With the best weather for an August Bank Holiday for 48 years. Just one of my anorak facts. This is a totally free event sponsored by Dover Harbour Board, with numerous exhibitors, bands one of which was working it's way through the decades of pop music, Lesley & Mary were dancing, always a very strange thing to do when sober I feel, with different competitions taking place on the water & the Dover & Deal Lifeboats doing a display. The car show side was organised by the Dover Transport Museum, as a result there seemed to be a more varied selection of cars, buses & lorries, remarkabley out of 150 + only 3 MG's, numerous motorbikes & a guy on a motorbike (sadly I don't know his name) who had just literally got of the ferry that day after completing a round the world trip, which took him 18 months (see photo's) he was raising money for the British Legion, all of this followed by Spitfires flying over. As Dover, Deal & the Old Timers at Folkstone are our local larger events covering the Whitecliffs area, it seems a shame so few of the club attend.
