Cobweb Run 2016

Posted by Joe & Mary on April 12, 2016 at 8:55 AM

The Cobweb Run this year, organised by Doug & Helen, started at The Alkham Cricket Club, with a lovely sunny morning after a week of rain was a real bonus. The route took in some narrow country lanes & flowing roads to the coffee stop, with homemade cakes at The Bull Inn at Bethersden, passing through Etchinghill, Newchurch & Woodchurch, Andy & Sandra did even more villages than the rest of us ,( but thats another story,) after coffee the sun had a beautiful halo around it, a pretty rare phenomonen, (see photo's)

The second half took us through some lovely country lanes with Bluebells, Primroses & carpets of celandines stretching for hundreds of yards in places, Doug worked very hard, determined to find some new roads we had not used before, just north of thre A20, bringing us out at Denton. We finished at Broome Park Barham, A magnificent stately home, once owned by Lord Kitchener, famous for his posters pointing his finger and saying "your car club needs you" or was it Country! With a superb meal to finish the day & in wonderful surroundings. Well done Helen & Doug
